The sounds suggest an all out exploration of hard edged things, celestial iconography, geometric shapes, day glo, pyramids, sparkles. Think about cyberpunk, neuromancer, films like “Liquid Sky” or “Blade Runner”.

Apparently, 2010 has everything to be the year to the 80s movies remakes. In this futuristic mood, “Tron” is coming back as 3D “Tron Legacy”. The studios are looking back to the neon lights and all those pop-cultural artefacts that Fashion used to get from the past to the wardrobes.

Corinne Day (1965-2010) is dead. The Queen of Naturalism in photograph passed away last Friday 27th August after a long battle with cancer. Her style of photograph kicked off the whole grunge movement in the ’90s in a blaze of controversy.

She changed Fashion with a new approach about beauty. No make-up, natural light, girls with flaws were Corinne’s trademarks. How her muse Kate Moss could be a model at her height, no boobs and such stranger knees? But she was and the famous The Face magazine cover (July 1990) is forever.

Accusations of her promoting ‘heroine chic’ and anorexia did nothing to halt her industry appeal or her stellar career. “Photography is getting as close as you can to real life, showing us things we don’t normally see. These are people’s most intimate moments, and sometimes intimacy is sad”, she said.

“Corinne opened the door for a whole generation of photographers, designers, models and stylists who suddenly saw that the fashion industry didn’t have to be this exclusive club for the privileged and perfect. Suddenly there was another way, a place where ‘normal’ people were welcome”, as written by Belinda White on Fashion Telegraph.

With a sugarlove taste from “Alice”, Tate Britain and Tate Modern brings “Cake Britain – A Fairtrade Mad Artists Tea Party“, headlining as the worlds first ever edible exhibition. It reminds me how sweet can be the simple things of life. Or, how we are consuming everything in peaces/pills, as cupcakes, tracks, datas, tweets, IDs… The knowledge is a patchwork.

“Cake Britain” is sponsored by Tate & Lyle Sugars and is based on Mad Artists Tea Party’s interpretation of the meaning of “fair”. It will feature food art from David A Smith, Jellymongers – Bompas & Parrm, Crumbs & Dollies and Lily Vanilli.

Reading about the future, I discovered some questions and answers that can change the anxiety to be there. After all, to be able to understand the future, you must know the past: what has taken us to where we are today and what has changed along the way. A breeze of naĂŻve techno-optimism sounds better now.

When I saw the first photos of Jil Sander’s collection by Raf Simons, a wave of heat knocked me down. Translating the colorful Happy Rock wardrobe to another level, the strong palette of male fashion to SS 2011 dictates: The blocked colors are the new print!

“Para compor a mixtape, convidei Miro Silveira, meu  padrasto, que Ă© excelente compositor e multi-instrumentista, faz trilhas para teatro, cinema, propagandas e novelas”, conta L_cio.

E mais: “O mix foi gravado no formato live PA, ou seja, cada faixa foi executada na hora com a utilização de instrumentos MIDI e samples”. Bem no tom handmade que tem influenciado trabalhos de artistas como Gonzales, Something A La Mode e Damian Lazarus.

Os primeiros anos da década de 80 testemunharam um choque entre a funky dance music e a produção eletrÎnica, resultando no surgimento da house e do hip hop. Nesse cenårio, em NY, a obra de Keith Haring (1958-1990) conferia ao graffiti o status de arte. Esse mixtape é inspirado em sua obra.

Em cartaz atĂ© o dia 5 de setembro, na Caixa Cultural Paulista (av. Paulista, 2083), a mostra “Keith Haring – Selected Works” apresenta 55 serigrafias, 9 gravuras, 29 litografias e uma xilogravura, nunca antes expostas antes no Brasil. Saiba mais no site oficial da mostra.
